Während Marcus H. Rosenmüller den reinrassigen bayerischen Heimatfilmkomödien abgeschworen hat und inzwischen sogar Nordlichter wie Christian Ulmen in seine Geschichten - siehe "Wer's glaubt, wird selig" - integriert, um so beim Publikum das Nord-Süd-Gefälle zu nivellieren, kommen nun auch andere auf den Geschmack von Lokalkolorit und regionalen Eigenheiten. In diesem speziellen Fall ist es Ulrike Grote. Die Schauspielerin ("Gloomy Sunday") und Regisseurin hat sich für "Die Kirche bleibt im Dorf" ihre schwäbische Wahlheimat als Schauplatz ausgesucht."

Und sie setzt auf alles, was dem regionalen Bezug Rechnung trägt: all ihre Protagonisten sprechen derart starke Mundart, dass Nichteingeweihte den Dialogen wohl kaum folgen werden können, und alle Schlüsselrollen wurden mit Darstellern besetzt, die aus der Gegend stammen und somit des Dialektes mächtig sind - wie etwa Natalia Wörner, Karoline Eichhorn und Julia Nachtmann, die als ungleiches Schwesterntrio so etwas wie die Seele dieser munteren Schwabenposse verkörpern.
